Confidentiality
The Guardianship Tribunal uses the information it collects to make decisions about applications.
- The Tribunal may obtain information in written reports or letters. People talking to the Tribunal may also supply information.
- The Tribunal gets information from many different people. For example, the person making the application or the person the application is about as well as the people who look after them and their family and friends.
- The Tribunal gives information about an application to all the people involved in the hearing.
- Reports from doctors and other professional people may also be shown to people attending a hearing.
- Usually only people directly involved in an application will attend the hearing.
- No one is allowed to give information about an applicant or a Tribunal hearing to people who are not directly involved in the hearing without the permission of the Tribunal.
