Other Languages
Some people who come to the Guardianship Tribunal have English as a second language or are not comfortable speaking in English. We know that coming to the Tribunal for a hearing can be stressful without trying to understand what is happening in a foreign language.
We will organise translations and interpreters where needed.
Translations
If hearing papers (reports, notices for hearing, written reasons for decision, orders) need to be translated, the Guardianship Tribunal can arrange for this to happen.
Also, we will arrange for the papers to be translated into Braille where needed.
If you or a party to the hearing need to have information translated, you should contact the Tribunal staff member responsible for the application. You should do this at least one week before the hearing.
Interpreters
The Guardianship Tribunal will arrange for interpreters to be available during the hearing where required.
We will also arrange for Auslan (Australian sign language) interpreters if you or someone attending the hearing is hearing impaired.
If you or a party to the hearing need to have an interpreter at the hearing, you should contact the Tribunal staff member responsible for the application. You should do this at least one week before the hearing.
