If order not working
If the order is not working in the best interests of the person, there are four ways to proceed. Select the box that describes what you want to find out about.
If the order is not working in the best interests of the person, there are four ways to proceed.
1. If there is a problem with how the order is working
- For a guardianship order where a private guardian has been appointed, contact the Guardianship Tribunal.
- For a guardianship order where the Public Guardian has been appointed, contact the Office of the Public Guardian.
- For a financial management order where a private financial manager has been appointed, contact the Office of the Protective Commissioner.
- For a financial management order where the Protective Commissioner has been appointed, contact the Office of the Protective Commissioner.
2. If you wish to have the order reviewed, contact the Guardianship Tribunal.

For a guardianship order, you can request a review if:
- the order is not working for the person under guardianship
- circumstances have changed affecting the order
- there is new information
- there is no further need for a guardian. -
For a financial management order, you can request a review if:
- the person has regained the capacity to manage their affairs or it is in the person's best interests that the order be revoked
- the manager is no longer willing or able to continue
- the manager is not managing affairs in the best interests of the person.
3. If you have a complaint about one of the Tribunal members or staff, contact the Guardianship Tribunal.
- Make a written complaint to the Registrar of the Guardianship Tribunal.
4. If you disagree with the decision made by the Tribunal, you can appeal the decision.
- To appeal the decision to the Supreme Court, seek legal advice or contact the Supreme Court.
- To appeal the decision to the Administrative Decisions Tribunal, seek legal advice or contact the Administrative Decisions Tribunal.
