Guardianship orders
Guardianship orders are reviewed. Initial guardianship orders are usually made for a period up to one year but can be made for up to 3 years in special circumstances. On review, orders can be made for a maximum of three years or five years in special circumstances.
It is also possible to request a review of a guardianship order for the following reasons.
- There is new information that affects the order.
- There is a change in circumstances that affects how the order is working.
- The person no longer needs a guardian.
Financial management orders
Most financial management orders are indefinite and apply to all of the person's financial affairs. Sometimes, the Tribunal can decide to review a financial management order after a specified time.
It is also possible to request a financial management order to be reviewed or revoked for the following reasons.
- The manager is no longer willing or able to continue.
- There is new evidence that the person can now look after his or her own affairs.
- There is no further need for a financial manager.
- The manager is not managing affairs in the best interests of the person.
